Marcus Clue

Privacy policy

This page explains what happens to the details you give us on marcusclue.com. Last updated 1 November 2026.

Who we are

Marcus Clue is the author and publisher of the puzzle books on this site. You can reach us at Marcus@marcusclue.com.

What we collect

When you join the Case Files we store your first name, your email address, which book you asked about (if any), where on the site you signed up, and the date and wording of the consent you gave. We also keep a scrambled code made from your internet address, only to stop people flooding the form. We don't keep your actual address.

When you play the free case or click a buy button we count it anonymously (for example, "someone solved the case" or "someone chose Amazon.co.uk"). These counts aren't linked to you.

Why we use it

We use your details only to email you free cases and news about Marcus Clue books, because you asked us to. We never sell or share them with anyone else. Emails are sent from our own mailbox, hosted by Hostinger, who also host this website and its database.

Cookies

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser may remember your preferred Amazon store and whether you've already joined, so we don't ask twice. That stays on your device.

Your choices

Every email has an unsubscribe link. From there you can also delete your details completely. You can also email Marcus@marcusclue.com to see, correct or delete what we hold. If you're in the UK you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Buying books

Buy buttons take you to Amazon. Anything you do there is covered by Amazon's own privacy policy.
